Please note that individual Qi therapies are not offered by the Centre in Wellington at the moment.

Qigong goes back in Chinese history 7000 years. It contains the essence of traditional Chinese culture and is the basis upon which Traditional Chinese Medicine was developed. It was through the practice of Qigong that the Chinese discovered the channels, points and energy gates of the body and developed much of the theory of TCM. A high level Qigong practitioner can not only feel and influence the flow of Qi in their own body, but can also feel and influence the Qi of others.

Having Qigong therapy can be a very special experience. For many, the sessions with Yuan Tze have been life-changing.  Now that Yuan Tze has changed the focus of his work to concentrate on writing and on the retreats, he will be limiting the extent of his Qi therapy work.  However, he has trained a number of Qi therapists who will continue this work in various parts of New Zealand and some overseas countries.

For information purposes, we are including the following section on Yuan Tze’s approach to Qi therapy.

What conditions can be helped?

Yuan Tze's many years of healing in China treating literally thousands of patients mean that he has treated virtually every illness that exists. He has found Qigong healing, in conjunction with Qigong practice, to be the most effective of all methods of treating illness. In New Zealand, he has helped people deal with serious illnesses such as cancer, chronic fatigue, kidney stones, broken bones, various gynaecological complaints, severe insomnia, infertility, and depression.

Yuan Tze can not only work on physical illnesses, but also emotional and mental conditions. For people who seek to advance their spiritual awareness and well being, Yuan Tze is also able to give valuable help.

Some people continue to attend therapy sessions regularly to maintain or enhance their health level even when their conditions are greatly improved.

Diagnosis

Yuan Tze uses a range of diagnostic techniques. He mostly diagnoses using his special abilities developed from years of Qigong cultivation to directly see the Qi condition of the patient. He is also able to sense a person's emotional or mental state with his special abilities. He sometimes uses other powerful techniques to get a better picture of the condition of the patient. If necessary he will also use techniques in standard use by practitioners of TCM, such as taking the twelve pulses, checking the tongue, skin, eyes and other indicators. He will also ask patients to talk about their symptoms and problems.

Therapy strategy

After the diagnosis, Yuan Tze will spend some time (depending on how long the session is) to talk to patients about their conditions and the causes of their problems from a holistic perspective. This is to help the patient understand how the illness and suffering developed. Thus patients can be clearer about how to work on their lives to relieve their suffering.

How does Qigong therapy work?

An important difference compared with the usual TCM consultation is that this therapy takes place within a strong pure Qi field built by Yuan Tze, which brings healing benefits throughout the time spent together. The Qi field contains not only strong energy but also positive and healthy information (messages) for healing. Moreover, as Yuan Tze speaks or listens he is constantly sending Qi to the patient. Thus, the patient will be asked to maintain eye contact with him even when the interpreter is talking so as to focus on receiving Qi from Yuan Tze. Later in the session the patient will normally stand close to Yuan Tze, who will direct Qi into the body at the places and in the ways most needed for healing.

Yuan Tze uses his consciousness to send Qi into the patient's body and give Qi directions (information) to heal and bring about changes in the body.

What to expect to feel?

People may experience Qi sensations in various ways during and after healing. Most people report positive sensations such as feeling light, bright, relaxed and happy or euphoric. They often feel better straight away as Yuan Tze sends Qi to replenish and unblock. A small proportion of patients may not feel much at all. Why do people feel differently with the same treatment? First of all, everyone is born with a different degree of sensitivity to Qi. It also has a lot to do with the patient's physical and mental condition when receiving Qi. Whether the patient is relaxed or open enough can also affect the Qi feeling. However, it is not important how much Qi sensation you feel from healing because Qi will go in and work the same no matter how you feel. The purpose of therapy or practice is to bring positive changes rather than feeling Qi.

The effects of Qigong Therapy

The effects of a session may be ongoing for some time afterwards. Often there is noticeable and permanent improvement in health. There may also be what are called reactions, where symptoms temporarily worsen or where old problems recur. Reactions are a sign that sick Qi is disturbed and is transforming within the body; in this case, it is important to maintain one's practice so as to help clear this unhealthy Qi from the body. Reactions are especially common for new practitioners and for those exposed to intense healing energy such as that sent by Yuan Tze. Our information sheet on reactions provides a more detailed description.

How to participate to maximise healing effects?

During Qi therapy:

To achieve the utmost healing effect, the patient has to let go of the concepts of conventional wisdom and of “commonsense” beliefs, open themselves up, have full respect for the Dao (law) and Qi of the universe and for the Qi field, and try his/her best to follow the instructions of Yuan Tze.

Other commitments:

During the first therapy session, Yuan Tze will give advice on how to eradicate the causes of the illness and improve the condition effectively. He will usually ask the patient to make the effort to do the following three things:

  1. 1. To work on the consciousness.

  2. 2. To attend follow-up healing sessions if necessary depending on the condition.

  3. 3. To practise Qigong regularly.

Yuan Tze will explain the above in detail in the session according to individual needs. The first session usually lasts 1.5 hours. This permits a greater understanding of the condition and of how the patient can participate in the process in order to achieve the best results. The follow-up sessions mostly last half an hour.
